By creating an account or using Shoebox ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Shoebox lets you photograph, store, organise, and export your own receipts. It is a record-keeping tool. It is not accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice, and it does not file anything with any tax authority on your behalf.
You own your receipts and the data you enter. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store and display that content back to you as part of running the service.
You agree not to upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to store.
Do not attempt to access another user's data, disrupt or overload the service, probe or breach its security, or use it to store material unrelated to your own record keeping.
Shoebox pre-fills details such as merchant, date, and amounts using automatic text recognition. This is not guaranteed to be accurate. Every receipt is shown to you for review before it is saved, and you are responsible for confirming the details are correct. Always verify figures before relying on them for tax or accounting purposes.
We take regular backups and aim to keep the service available, but the service is provided "as is" without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability or of data preservation. Because receipts may matter to you for years, we strongly recommend periodically exporting your own copy using the export options in the app and storing it somewhere you control.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or tax deductions arising from your use of or inability to use the app.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for accounts that violate these terms or that place the service at risk.
These terms may be updated; the date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
